Married firstly in 1716 at Nienburg Princess ELEONORA WILHELMINA of Anhalt-Köthen (*1696,+1726).

Married secondly in 1734 at Bayreuth SOPHIE CHARLOTTE of Brandenburg-Bayreuth (*1713,+1747).

His issue who reigned:

-ERNEST AUGUSTUS II (*1737,+1758; son of Sophie Charlotte),

-Ernestine Auguste (*1740,+1786; Duchess of Saxe-Hildburghausen; daughter of Sophie Charlotte).

Died in 1748 at Eisenach.

Buried with his first consort Duchess Eleonore Wilhelmine in the Ducal Mausoleum at Weimar.

His second consort Duchess Sophie Charlotte was buried in St Jacob's Church at Ilmenau (no tomb).

Born in 1737 at Weimar.

Father: Duke Ernest Augustus I of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. Mother: Duchess Sophie Charlotte of Brandenburg-Bayreuth.

Married in 1756 in Brunswick Princess ANNA AMALIA of Brunswick (*1739 Wolfenbüttel,+1807 Weimar).

His issue who reigned: CHARLES AUGUSTUS (*1757,+1828).

Died in 1758 at Weimar.

Buried in the Ducal Mausoleum at Weimar.

His consort Duchess Anna Amalia was buried in the Town Church in Weimar.

Died in 1828 at Graditz.

Buried with his consort Grand Duchess Louise of Hesse in the Ducal Mausoleum at Weimar.

 

 

1828-1853: CHARLES FREDERICK (Carl Friedrich)

Born in 1783 at Weimar.

Father: Grand Duke Charles Augustus of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. Mother: Grand Duchess Louise of Hesse-Darmstadt.

Married in 1804 in St Petersburg Grand Duchess MARIA of Russia (*1786 St Petersburg,+1859 Belvedere near Weimar).

His issue who reigned:

-Augusta (*1811,+1890; Queen of Prussia and Empress of Germany),

-CHARLES ALEXANDER (*1818,+1901).

Died in 1853 at Belvedere near Weimar.

Buried with his consort Grand Duchess Maria of Russia in the Ducal Mausoleum at Weimar.

 

 

1853-1901: CHARLES ALEXANDER (Carl Alexander)

Born in 1818 at Weimar.

Father: Grand Duke Charles Frederick of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. Mother: Grand Duchess Maria of Russia.

Married in 1842 at The Hague Princess SOPHIA of the Netherlands (*1824 The Hague,+1897 Weimar).

Died in 1901 at Weimar.

Buried with his consort Grand Duchess Sophia of the Netherlands in the Ducal Mausoleum at Weimar.

 

 

1901-1918: WILLIAM ERNEST (Wilhelm Ernst)

Born in 1876 at Weimar.

Father: Crown Prince Carl August of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. Mother: Crown Princess Pauline of Saxe-Weimar.

Married firstly in 1903 at Bückeburg Princess CAROLINE of Reuss-Greiz (*1884 Greiz,+1905 Weimar).

Married secondly in 1910 at Meiningen Princess FEODORA of Saxe-Meiningen (*1890 Hanover,+1972 Freiburg im Breisgau).

Abdicated in 1918 and settled down in Lower Silesia.

Died in 1923 at Henryków in Lower Silesia.

Buried in the park of the palace at Heinrichau (now Henryków, Poland).

His first consort Grand Duchess Caroline of Reuss was buried in the Ducal Mausoleum at Weimar.

His second consort Grand Duchess Feodora of Saxe-Meiningen was buried in the cemetery in Bad Krozingen, Germany (no tomb).
